Gas Sampling and Analysis

Gas samples may be obtained and analyzed by one of the following methods:

Portable Chromatograph
Chromatographic analysis of a spot sample of gas is taken at a representative location and analyzed on site by means of a portable gas chromatograph. Chromatographs are equipped with an auto-calibration feature built-in to provide repeatability and accuracy. The chromatograph maintenance is set based on standards provided by the manufacturer.

Spot Sample
Spot sample of gas taken by a qualified employee or contractor following API standards at a representative location using a sample bottle. The sample is analyzed using a gas chromatograph at a location remote from the sampling location or sent to an approved lab for analysis.

On-Site Gas Chromatograph
On-site chromatograph samples directly from a representative source. Chromatographs are equipped with an auto-calibration feature built-in to provide repeatability and accuracy. The chromatograph maintenance is set based on standards provided by the manufacturer.

System Gas Chromatograph
Gas chromatograph sampling is taken directly from a representative source and analyzing continuously. The results are then applied to other locations on the system that are representative of the sample source.

Upstream Pipeline Samples
The upstream pipeline provides chromatograph data for deliveries. Communication of this data is provided by the upstream pipeline Electronic Bulletin Board (EBB).

This listing is provided for informational purposes only, to comply with requirements established by FERC. The pipeline reserves the right to use a method or methods different from those listed herein and to modify this listing as appropriate to reflect any such different method.
